I'm neither a drug dealer or a terrorist, I own two of these style guns. One is used only for the purpose or deer hunting and the other is used only for the purpose of sport target shooting. Your comment is way off base and uncalled for, If you don't want to own one of these style guns that is your right since we live in America. It's also my right to own one for that same reason. Have a great day.

Sorry but your comment "There is no reason in the world to own one of these guns unless you are a terrorist or drug dealer. #11 - Katy Scarlett - 2:09 pm CST on Fri Apr 24, 2009" is RIDICULOUS. MILLIONS of law abiding Americans own so called "assault rifles" which is a misleading term used by the media. Military style FULLY AUTOMATIC ASSAULT RIFLES are (virtually) ALREADY ILLEGAL and have been for a long time! People who don't know what they are talking about think that "black, scary looking rifles" are "ASSAULT RIFLES" even though they are completely misinformed. Please watch this video from a Police Officer that explains why the Assault Weapons Ban is just plain stupid. It does NOTHING to tackle the real problem of criminals getting guns...
I don't mean to be rude but please know what you are talking about before you lump GUN OWNING AMERICANS as "terrorists and drug dealers." It is both offensive and extremely ignorant to people who are educated on the subject.
Katy you have it all wrong. The idiotic media has over-used and generically used "Assault rifle" to act as trigger words (excuse the pun) to make you think most guns seen on TV in crimes are illegal.
Let me give you an example. Say your sitting on the curb, and I stab you in the neck with a fork. I'm sure you agree, that what I just did would be assault. Would we now have to label all forks as "Assault Forks"? I mean, its just a piece of metal, and unless used in a malicious way, can be used in a responsible matter. That is the case with most "Assault Rifles" you see the uneducated media reporting on. I suggest you make sure you are not narrow minded, and in fact I encourage you to go to a gun range with someone you know who is trained well with weapons. You never know, you may enjoy it. I know myself and my wife enjoy shooting tremendously. Most women who shoot, do so very well. It may just save your life one day.
Be sure of what you speak. The proposed ban would make illegal the ownership of many hunting rifles and shotguns, plus the large number of guns used for shooting sports. Criminals will always have these and far more powerful weapons, IE drug cartels because they can purchase them illegally over seas. Less than 20% of guns taken by the Mexican Government can be traced back to the US. That means that they are being smuggled across the southern border of Mexico or brought in over the beach. I might added that Mexico has very strict gun laws. The unarmed are at the mercy of the armed.
Police always make it to the crime scene, but never are there when the crime is being committed.
Katy, even drug dealers have the same protection under law as other citizens unless they have been caught and have been convicted of a felony. And a terrorist is not a terrorist until he violates the law. That means if the Bill of Rights was intended to limit the power of the federal government and provide citizens with individual liberties, these bad guys have the same right to bear arms as do law abiding citizens.
Even these people are innocent until proven guilty.
Katy;
The second amendment says "the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed upon." Shall is an absolute in legal terms. Therefore all "gun laws" are unconstitutional. If you don't want a weapon, fine, don't buy one. But don't you DARE tell me, someone who has owned many guns all of my life, that I can't have a freedom guarnteed to me over 230 years ago by men wiser than both of us. I have never hurt anyone with a gun. I would only use it in self defense. Yes I have "assault weapons," and I know how to responsibly use them. It is OUR right.
Oh, by the way, I am NOT a terrorist or a drug dealer. Tell me, WHY are you so opposed to MY or anyone else having a gun if you nor anyone else is harmed by it?

Katy, I am neither a terrorist or a drug dealer. I choose to own my assault weapons to guard against the criminals that do. The government cannot protect you at all times, sometimes you have to protect yourself.
